Contemporary Kitchen - All Natural Strawberry Fruit Pops

This will be another series of favorite recipes.  However, these will be our "original" ideas.  Things we've created or found and tweaked to our liking.  Some will require giving credit to others, some are truly original.  So we'll try to give credit where credit is due.  But if we accidentally infringe on any copyrights, again, we're sorry.  We hope that you like them and try them (or tweak them) for yourself!

First up is a recipe I created a few summers ago when my nephew was visiting. All natural strawberry fruit popsicles.

I decided to start with this recipe as my son's little friend, we'll call her Miss M, is having her tonsils out this week.  The two share a love of strawberries, so I decided that these would be a perfect pick me up to take over to her as she recuperates.  These are so simple to make and so much better than what you can buy in the store.

Ingredients are simple. Strawberries, water, sugar and something to freeze them in.  Here I have used 1lb of Strawberries. Remove the tops from the strawberries and place them in the blender and blend until liquified.  I added 1/4 C. of water to help them along.  Next you will want to taste the puree to see if you need to add sugar and how much. Add sugar to your taste.  Mine were pretty sweet so I added 1/4 C. of sugar.

Then simply pour them into your popsicle maker of choice.

Don't forget to to leave some room for expansion at the top!

These Tupperware popsicle makers are so handy, but at my house they are hard to keep track of. I was surprised I was only missing one! In the summer you can often find popsicle makers at the dollar store, but right now, they are a bit hard to find. But, why buy them... here is another simple trick. Use dixie cups and popsicle sticks! (And I didn't have regular popsicle sticks so I cut large craft sticks in half - hey, whatever works!)

I put a piece of plastic wrap on the top and poked the sticks through.  Aluminum foil would have been my first choice, but I was out.  Now, place in the freezer.... I froze mine overnight, about 6 hours.

To serve the dixie cup pops, simply peel the paper off.  You can have spare cups handy to put the pops back in if needed.

Enjoy! I know these will help Miss M. feel better so much faster!

Love and God's peace to you,
Christine

  1. Sometimes it's the simplest things that make for the biggest smiles! If you haven't tried it yet substitute agave nectar for the sugar. I've been substituting it alot lately. Its glycemic index is significantly lower. This makes it a healthier alternative to many processed and natural sweeteners. Plus it tastes great and enhances the flavors that you are using it with.
